Photo Highlights from Gingerbread Man & Super Bee Week

Week 1 Gingerbread Man & Super Bee!

Dear Kindergarten Families,

Twenty-five sweet faces walked into our classroom on Tuesday morning to begin their first of many days as Madeleine students.  Each child came in the door with unique feelings about the day.  We talked about first day feelings and how they are normal and natural.  It was fun to hear all of the different emotions.  We are working on a class book about our first day feelings.

It has been a big week!  There are so many new things to see and do.  Remember your children will be coming home from school exhausted from their full day of new experiences.  Please try to make sure your child gets a good night sleep and a balanced breakfast. This will help your child adapt to his/her new schedule.  It would also be helpful if parents could pack their child’s lunch and snack separately.  Thank you for remembering to have your child try the bathroom before coming to school.  I appreciate your support in these areas.  Thank you, too, for working so hard to make this first week of school such a great success.  Your children are delightful and give me so much joy!

This week we read several different versions of the Gingerbread Man.  Then we carefully decorated and baked a gigantic gingerbread man.  We placed him lovingly into the oven and left for a bit to let him bake.  When we returned to get him from the oven, he was gone!  Fortunately, he left us a note.  The note led us to see Mrs. Steele and Mrs. Rosebrook in the office.  In fact, he lead us on a search through the school.  We finally found our cookie friend hiding in our classroom under the prayer table.    We had a small and delicious treat as we pondered how that little rascal maneuvered himself through the school. There were many interesting theories!

Super Bee visited our classroom to share the importance of following our classroom rules and how these help to make our classroom a happy place. Please review our classroom rules and ask your child to share with you the hand signs for our Rule Role Call.

Thank you for sharing your sweet children with me.   I am looking forward to next week’s adventures!

Have a restful weekend.

Sincerely,
Leigh Ann
